Early Career Marathon: Integrating Research and Practice
24 hours of Applied Psychology from around the world

A one of a kind virtual event dedicated to student and early career psychologists. Selected participants will submit a brief presentation on their research to be reviewed by top psychologists around the world. Presentations and reviews will be shown during a 24-hour marathon with time for questions and answers. The marathon will start on Saturday, October 16 at 8:00 AM UTC and end Sunday, October 17 at 8:00 AM UTC. Awards will be given for the top two presentations overall and the top presentation from each continent. You must be a member to participate and attend. Joining is easy!

Awards:
  • First place overall: airfare and free registration for the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) in Beijing
  • Second place overall: free registration for ICAP Beijing.
  • The IAAP Executive Committee will review all presentations before the event and select the best two presentations. In the event of a tie or inconclusive vote, Pedro Altungy Labrador (Student Division President) will cast the deciding vote. 
  • The winners will be announced at the close of the Early Career Marathon.

Runnerup Awards

  • All IAAP members will be invited to rank the presentations 
  • The top five presentations will receive two years of free membership in IAAP and a Young Board Observer Seat for 2022
  • Voting will be open through October 31 and the winner will be announced on November 2

Participation Criteria:
  • Must be a current IAAP member in good standing.
  • Less than 10 years after your last obtained degree or no more than 10 years of professional experience (current students welcome).

 March 25: Call for Abstracts
 June 15: Abstracts due
 July 15: Acceptance notifications sent, Registration Opens
 August 15: Recorded video due
 September 15: Recorded reviews due
October 8: Registration closes
 October 18: Opening of discussion sections for one week on Slack
 November 5: Regional winners announced in the November IAAP eNews
