IAAP Fellows in Sport Psychology

IAAP Fellow status is awarded to scholars who have made sustained outstanding contributions to the area of sport psychology in the areas of research, teaching, and/or application.

At the moment, Division 12 has five Fellows:

  • Founder President Professor Glyn C. Roberts, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Norway
  • Professor Joan L. Duda, University of Birmingham, UK

They were elected by the IAAP Board of Directors as Fellows of Division 12 during the 26th International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), Athens, 2006.


  • Professor Robert J. Vallerand, Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada
  • Professor Emeritus, Yuri L. Hanin, Research Institute for Olympic Sport, Finland

They were elected by the IAAP Board of Directors as Fellows of Division 12 during the 27th International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), Melbourne, 2010.


  • Professor Marit Sorensen, Norges Idrettshogskole, Oslo, Norway

She was elected by the IAAP Board of Directors as Fellow during the 28th International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), Paris, 2014.
