The Time is Now for Mental Health, Well-being and Decent Work: Advances at the United Nations in New York, Successful Advocacy of the IAAP Team About Applied Psychology and How You Can be Involved and Contribute
Speakers: Judy Kuriansky and Walter Reichman
Landmark advances in policy have recently taken place at the United Nations that greatly facilitate the work of IAAP colleagues, particularly regarding mental health and well-being, While the COVID pandemic has seriously set back education and development, awareness about mental health has become prioritized after years of advocacy on the part of psychologists representing psychology-related NGOs accredited at the UN. High-level UN officials have also “opened the door” to hear the views of psychologists. This webinar will describe those advances, what they mean to us at IAAP, and how IAAP members can take advantage of opportunities for their work. The webinar will cover the role of psychologists at the UN, and how to do advocacy since the new Global Agenda will soon be negotiated and IAAP members’ input is going to be valuable. Thus, join us on this webinar, to let the UN New York team of representatives know of your work and opinions, to get involved in bringing applied psychology to the international deliberations at the UN headquarters.
