How Can International Psychology of Women Advance Gender Equality? - Presented by IAAP Special Project, Gender Equality

How Can International Psychology of Women Advance Gender Equality?

The next IAAP webinar will be hosted by the IAAP special project on Gender Equality. Professor Fanny M. Cheung and Professor Diane F. Halpern will talk about “How the International Psychology of Women Can Advance Gender Equality”. They will focus their talk around the following questions:

  1. Have we achieved/ How can we achieve gender equality across the world?
  2. How can psychology of women explain the reasons for gender inequality?
  3. What are the gaps in our current knowledge around these topics?
  4. How can international psychology of women contribute to gender equality?

Fanny and Diane will also share their rationale for having worked on the Cambridge Handbook on the International Psychology of Women.

This will be the first event sponsored by our special project which was established in 2018 at the ICAP in Montreal. The main aims of our project are

  1. to gather ideas and evidence from different disciplines in psychology on what has been done, and still needs to be done, on gender equality
  2. to promote what IAAP can do on gender equality at the UN and other stakeholder organizations.

Given its membership from around the world, the IAAP can promote gender equality internationally using research evidence from our psychology disciplines. This is particularly important because the advances that have been made towards achieving gender equality vary significantly across different countries.

We hope you will join us in these discussions on the 14th of April and beyond. We welcome any questions about gender equality for our speakers. If you know them in advance, please send them to Kristina. As always, the questions will be welcome also during and after the presentation.
