The WOP contribution to Sustainable Development Goals

Division 1 is pleased to share with you the progress report of the international project "This works in my place! African Edition", which takes into account the specific contextual factors of the region. The report provides valuable insights into the contextual factors in Africa that facilitate or hinder the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Tariku Ayana Abdi

Tariku Ayana Abdi holds a Ph.D. in Sciences of Mind (Work and Organizational Psychology) from the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli.” Since July 2023, he has been working as a research fellow at the University of Bologna, Department of Management Science. His research interests include employability, career success, entrepreneurship, and well-being.

Bijou Attey

Bijou Attey is a communications expert with a global worldview and a passion for improving lives through stories and images. With over 10 years of experience in writing, photography, and design, Bijou lends her skills to development communications as a communications officer at the International Centre for Evaluation and Development. Her work is inspired by years of international travel on personal and mission trips from a young age, as well as a passion for supporting others in developing their voices and experiencing equality.
Bijou's background in industrial organizational psychology and fine arts are the foundation for the creative communications activities that allow her to tell stories of different cultures. Her ability to speak 5 languages and connect with other human beings in a deeper sense inform her work in development communications. Beyond her work in the non-profit sector, Bijou is also a certified personal development coach and she works to empower others in overcoming difficulties and barriers. In her leisure time, Bijou can be found volunteering and creating art while globetrotting and discovering new foods.

Jennifer Namutebi

Jennifer Namutebi is a Ugandan Psychologist currently a lecturer at Nkumba University School of Business Administration and Consultant at Bantu Concepts (U) Ltd. With a background in Human Resource Management, Business Psychology, and digital education, she is pursuing doctoral studies focused on human flourishing at work. She has participated in various international research collaborations and mentors young African entrepreneurs through the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship (TEF) program. As Co-founder of the Bantu Apprentice House, she helps fresh graduates gain employability skills. Jennifer also serves as Vice President and Africa representative for IAAP Division 15. Her expertise in organisation positive psychology and digital education makes her a forward-thinking leader. By merging insights from psychology with the evolving digital educational landscape, Jennifer shapes future business leaders who not only understand human behavior but also harness technology to thrive in today's complex work environments.

Tosin Olateju

Dr. Tosin is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in organizational change advisory and implementation services across both public and private sectors in Nigeria, Canada, and New Zealand. His extensive work in the public sector includes consulting for District Councils, Provincial and Central Governments, multilateral organizations, and Ports and Maritime Authorities. Tosin has contributed to a diverse range of industries in the private sector, including banking, power generation, electricity distribution, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and non-profit healthcare organizations. Tosin holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology and Project Management from the 6 University of Canterbury, New Zealand and an MSc in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Paris, France, and the University of Valencia, Spain. His multidisciplinary expertise uniquely positions him to address complex challenges and drive impactful change in various contexts.

Michelle Renecle

Michelle Renecle, PhD, is Director of Behaviour Science and People Analytics at iPsychTec. She grew up in Johannesburg South Africa and now lives in London. An industrial/organisational psychologist with a decade of experience, she applies behavioural science to solve strategic people challenges. Michelle has worked across consulting, industry, and academia, partnering with organisations worldwide. Her expertise includes enhancing team performance, fostering inclusion, reducing risk, and leading large-scale cultural transformation projects. She collaborates with the University of Valencia on risk culture and team effectiveness research, with her PhD work published in leading journals.

Maha Yomn Sbaa

Maha Yomn is a Ph.D. candidate in Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Bologna specializing in Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and cross-cultural management. Having lived across Europe, Southwest Asia, North Africa, and the U.S., she brings a global perspective to fostering inclusive workplaces, and managing cultural diversity. Her research focuses on Decent Work perceptions among economic migrant workers in Europe, aiming to advance equity, well-being, and safer working environments for all.

Charles L. Tchagnéno

Charles L. TCHAGNENO is Associate Professor in Work Psychology and Ergonomics at the University of Franche-Comté (France). He is from Cameroon, and his research interests focus on the socio-cognitive determinants of work-related behaviors. He has developed an expertise in the relationship with work, notably through work on the work meaning and social representations of work. His work also focuses on precariousness, informal work, beliefs (fatalistic, instrumental, socio-cultural) and relationships to rules in the context of work.

Baniyelme D. Zoogah

Baniyelme D. Zoogah (PhD - The Ohio State University) Associate Professor of Management at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, Ontario, Canada HR/OB courses in the Human Resources and Management Area. The primary context of his research is Africa. In addition to Visiting Professorship positions in Ghana and South Africa, he initiated the Strategic Followership stream of research and has published in leading journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Ethics, Human Resources Management, International Journal of Human Resources Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Global Strategy Journal, and Africa Journal of African Management among others . In addition to several book chapters, he has authored two books on Strategic followership, one book on Ethnos Oblige: Theory and Evidence and c o -authored Managing Organizational Behavior in the African Context. He also edited one volume of the Emerald series on Research Methodology in Strategy and Management (in the Context of Africa).
