Board Members - Counseling Psychology

Meet the members of the Division 16 Board.  They are:

Maria Duarte, President

Maria Eduarda Duarte (maria.ec.duarte@gmail.com) is the President.

Maria Eduarda Duarte is Full Professor at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Psychology, where she directs the Master Course in Psychology of Human Resources, Work, and Organizations. Her professional interests include career psychology theory and research, with special emphasis on issues relevant to adults and the world of work. She is research director of Career Guidance and Development of Human Resources Services. Her publications and presentations have encompassed topics on adult’s career problems, testing and assessment, and counselling process. She is since 2005 Chair of the Portuguese Psychological Society; she also served on editorial boards for some Portuguese, European, and Iberia-American journals.She was the Director of the National Institute of Guidance (2009-2014). She is President of Counselling Division, IAAP. She is Fellow Award – IAAP (2014), and ESVDC award 2015.

She is also National Defence Adviser, since 2006.

Paul Hartung, President-Elect

Paul Hartung is Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Adjunct Professor of Counseling at the University of Akron. He has authored over 75 journal articles and book chapters and co-edited three books dealing with career development theory and practice. Currently, he is editor of The Career Development Quarterly and serves on several editorial boards including Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Career Assessment, and Journal of Counseling and Development. He is a fellow of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Career Development Association. In 2009, he received the APA Division 17 John L. Holland award for achievement in career and personality research. He is President-Elect, Division 16 (Counseling Psychology) of IAAP.

Mark Savicas, Past-President

Mark Savickas is professor of Family and Community Medicine at the Northeastern Ohio Medical University (USA) and adjunct professor of Counselor Education at Kent State University. He currently serves as editor of the Journal of Vocational Behavior. He has published more than 100 articles and chapters on vocational psychology and career counseling and presented 500 lectures and workshops around the globe. He has received the highest awards presented by the Society for Counseling Psychology, the Society for Vocational Psychology, and the National Career Development Association. He is past president of the Counseling Psychology Division in the International Association of Applied Psychology.

Lea Ferrari is an associate professor at the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology, University of Padova.

Her research efforts include the study of variables and processes in Life Design model, setting up of instruments, planning of interventions programs and their verification. She teaches Diversity management in the workplace and Psychology of inclusion for people with disability and is member of the teaching staff of the post-graduate Master Course in ‘Life Design and Career Counseling’. She actively collaborates with the Larios Laboratory (Laboratory for Research and Intervention in Vocational Designing and Career Counseling) and the University Centre for Research and Services on Disability, Rehabilitation and Inclusion, at the University of Padova. Career Adaptability International Collaborative Group and of the European project University Network for Innovation in Guidance - Lifelong Learning Programme

(2009-2012/2013-2015). She is also co-editor of the newsletter of the Italian Society of Vocational Guidance.
